We cherish cultural and artistic exchange within the local and an international artist community. Therefore we wish the artists to stay with us during its residency period besides smaller excursions to enable you to participate in our programme. We want to introduce you to the Leipzig art scene, its artists and active protagonists. Therefore we provide a programme of art critics and artist studio visits as well as a large work and furnished living space in one which allows you to just arrive. LIA is located at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spinnerei.de\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Spinnerei<\/a>, a former cotton mill. <\/h5>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading alignfull has-large-font-size\" style=\"line-height:1.6\">We would like to encourage artists to use the dynamic place of the Spinnerei and its surroundings to create works and rather prefer works created on site and in exchange rather than you bring works. We are not a gallery space, neither we see each other responsible to find the artist a gallery nor an exhibition space. However we curate exhibitions with the work done on site and provide a visible and vivid platform for our residents locally at the Spinnerei and sometimes also abroad. We would like to encourage you to work closely together with us and also to create the programme with us. Tell us what your needs are.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide are-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">We provide<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Studio<\/strong> \u2013 83 square meter furnished studio including wifi internet, shared office printer and all side costs (commonly shared LIA bath \/ LIA kitchen and LIA main hall, household goods, linen and towels are provided as well as technical service and cleaning service for the bathroom)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Exhibition<\/strong> \u2013 garanteed participation in one curated group show during the Spinnerei Gallery Tour (January, April\/May, September), the LIA summer show (end of July) or an open studio event at LIA (November).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Service<\/strong> \u2013 curatorial advice, visa- and scholarship application aid, care taking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Programme<\/strong> \u2013 care taking by programme coordinator Marina D\u00edaz Molina on site, curatorial advice and studio visits by Anna-Louise Rolland once a month, visa- and funding assistance for the time period you will occupy a studio in LIA, visits of artist studios and artists or professors as guest critics in your studio (guaranteed one visit per month), guided press and professional tours through the studios (if the artist wants to participate)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-vertically-aligned-top is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Application<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>LIA supports international artists and is an intercultural programme. The not-profit institution offers furnished studios, 83 square meters each, which serve as a working and living space, as well as the participation in the program, one group show at LIA is guaranteed. Studios are available for three or a six months periods. There\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0monthly\u00a0programme\u00a0fee\u00a0charged\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>1.750,00-\u00a0\u20ac. Selected artists by LIA will receive all documentation necessary to apply for funding and visa support. LIA does neither cover living \/ material \/ insurance nor traveling expenses. Artists can apply anytime. There is no deadline. Being accepted the applicant receives permission to enroll in LIA. The first third of the total amount of fees have to be payed during the following four weeks.The rest of the residency amount no later than by arrival. In case of cancellation the reservation fee will be kept until another resident has been found. If this is not possible, the fee will be kept and the studio stays open for the participation of the artist who originally booked it. Currently, we provide scholarships for artists from the countires Denmark,Iceland, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapure and Vietnam through a cooperation with the Goethe-Institut. The New York Academy of Art and School of Visual Arts support students to participate in LIA program every year as well as the RMIT Melbourne, the Brno University of Technology and, from 2020 on, the Sydney University. Each of the altogether five LIA studios (the size is each 83 square meter) is fully equipped with basic furniture for working and living purposes: bed, chairs, desk, table and a cupboard for storage and clothes. There will be linen, sheets and towels provided for you. So just come and start.<br>Also there is a common kitchen with washing machine, fridge, oven, microwave and dishes as well as a common shower and bathroom all located in the programme. And a main exhibition hall in front of your studio is there for common dinners, presentations, film nights and exhibitions. A projector is provided. We have one of the largest artist supply stores in town at the Spinenrei where you can find everything possible just exiting your studio. Arrivals have to be agreed with the programme coordinator. By arrival in LIA, the artist will receive a welcome package with first information, contract copy, studio keys, sheets and towels. WLAN is available in each studio. The artist has to put in a<strong> deposit of 100 \u20ac for keys and room<\/strong> which will be returned by departure if the keys are returned and the studio has been left as it was found. Taxi directly to the Spinnerei is around 45 \u20ac. Another option is to take the train to the main train station Leipzig Hbf, Taxi from there to the Spinnerei is 15 \u20ac or take tram No. 15 direction Militz, exit Lindenau-Bushof or tram No. 14 direction Plagwitz to the final stop S-Bhf Plagwitz. From both stations it&#8217;s a walk of 5-10 minutes to the Spinnereistra\u00dfe 7, enter left into the Spinnerei area and find the big orientation map close to the entrance. LIA is an interdisciplinary program connecting artistic discourses with political, economical and scientific themes. LIA believes in the encounter of foreign cultures as being a great benefit to once own artistic biography. You should be willing to live in an international community and contribute to its social environment. Once a month each resident takes care of cleaning the common facilities. English should be spoken reasonably well. Artists participating in LIA are on their own risk. If the artist decides to sell in the program, LIA will add an extra 20 %. The program will take care of the management of the sale, the entire payment process, corresponds with the buyer side, organizes the payment of VAT and shipping. The payment for the shipment has to be taken care of the artist. Please note there is 19 % VAT on art sales in Germany.
