Also teaches Fine Art at Crawford College of Art &amp; Design, Cork.<\/p>\n<p>The role of memory and perception is central to Crotty\u2019s work. Found imagery sourced from books, documentary film and the internet, become detached from their original meaning and are re-interpreted to create a disjointed narrative. In layering images and representations from diverse sources, unspecific places and varied generations, a fictional scenario is created but one which is ingrained in collective consciousness. This coming together of people from unspecific locations represents a sense of the duration and conviction of a \u2018groups\u2019 ideal. Yet lingering there is also an assertion of a collective commitment between individuals to form a doctrine of some form, to lead or forge forward.
