\"\"<\/a>born 1968 in the Netherlands, studied BA fine arts at the Academy of Fine Art and Design Minerva, Groningen, the Netherlands (1997-2001). Before, she was a trainer for teachers on drawing, painting and art history in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. She lives and works in the Netherlands as an artist as well as an curator for the artist inititative id 11 (www.id11.nl).<\/p>\n

In her works Rolina concentrates on women and the female, though not in a feminist manner, but more derived from her own womanhood, with a core focus on more universal, existential questions. Her motifs arise through perceiving and interacting in different cultures, surroundings or every day life. During her own travels she incorporates other customs and social atmospheres like a cultural nomad. Rolina Nell\u2019s painting is in keeping with traditions of realism and formal painting. A distinguishing feature is that both the depiction and the gesture of painting generate meaning.<\/p>\n
