Das LIA-Ausstellungsprojekt “Blickwechsel \/ Gaze Shift” war Projektpartner im Deutschlandjahr USA 2018\/2019<\/h3>\n

Das LIA – Leipzig International Art Programme f\u00f6rderte in den zehn Jahren seines Bestehens bereits \u00fcber 60 bildende K\u00fcnstlerInnen aus den USA. Seither bestehen Partnerschaften mit der School of Visual Arts New York City und der New York Academy of Art sowie ein enger Kontakt zum U.S. Generalkonsulat in Leipzig.<\/p>\n

Anl\u00e4sslich des Deutschlandjahrs USA<\/em> “Wunderbar Together” – einer Kooperation des Deutschen Ausw\u00e4rtigen Amts, des Goethe-Instituts und des BDI – startete LIA das Ausstellungsprojekt \u201eBickwechsel \/ Gaze Shift\u201c<\/strong>, in welchem U.S.-amerikanische, ehemalige LIA-K\u00fcnstler und K\u00fcnstler aus Leipzig zusammen pr\u00e4sentiert wurden. Die Ausstellung stellte bewusst transkulturelle Bez\u00fcge zwischen den U.S. – amerikanischen sowie Leipziger K\u00fcnstlern und K\u00fcnstlerinnen her, die jeweils einen Auslandsaufenthalt im Gastland absolvierten. Sie umfasste Video, Installation, Konzeptkunst, Fotografie, Malerei und Grafik. F\u00f6rdernde Institutionen auf Deutscher Seite waren die Stadt Leipzig, Kulturstiftung des Freistaates Sachsen und Villa Aurora Los Angeles, auf amerikanischer Seite die School of Visual Arts New York City und die New York Academy of Art.<\/p>\n

Die pointierte Gegen\u00fcberstellung k\u00fcnstlerischer Produktion beider L\u00e4nder der letzten zehn Jahre in Form eines Dialogs sollte Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschiede in der Wahrnehmung beider Kulturen und deren Lebensweisen veranschaulichen. Gibt es gemeinsame Themen, die K\u00fcnstlerInnen beider L\u00e4nder ber\u00fchren? Gibt es kulturelle Unterschiede im Umgang mit der Fremde? Welcher Erfahrungsaustausch fand statt und wie hat er sich auf die Arbeitsweise ausgewirkt?<\/p>\n

Dar\u00fcber hinaus ist unter der Schirmherrschaft des ehemaligen U.S.- amerikanischen Botschafters John B. Emerson eine Grafikedition \u201eNew York – Leipzig\u201c entstanden mit jeweils 6 K\u00fcnstlern aus New York City und 6 aus Leipzig. Dieser Arbeitsaustausch mit dem Leipziger Atelier f\u00fcr Radierung und multimedialen K\u00fcnstlern ist ebenso Bestandteil der Ausstellung. Einerseits werden hier unterschiedliche kulturelle Perspektiven sichtbar gemacht, andererseits die grafische Tradition der Stadt Leipzig vorgestellt.<\/p>\n

Die Ausstellung beinhaltete eine Werkpr\u00e4sentation geladener deutscher und US-amerikanischer Gastk\u00fcnstler zu den Arbeiten ihres jeweiligen Gastaufenthaltes mit anschlie\u00dfender Podiumsdiskussion. Darin sollten kulturelle Erfahrungen, die Zusammenarbeit mit Institutionen des Kunstbetriebs in Deutschland und den USA aber auch \u00e4sthetische Gesichtspunkte k\u00fcnstlerischer Produktion in der Fremde einem breiten Publikum zug\u00e4nglich und \u00fcber die Ausstellung hinaus pers\u00f6nlich anschaulich gemacht werden.<\/p>\n
