Alice Christel PENDA is a Cameroonian visual artist working in Cameroon. She graduated from the Institute of Fine Arts (University of Douala) with a MasterIIenArtsPlastiques&Histoirede l’Art in 2020. Prior from studying art, she has a B.Sc. in Mathematics/Computer Sciences; and, another one in Banking.
She has a multidisciplinary approach: she expresses herself through painting, graphic design and installation. Her artistic practice focuses on re-examining history, environment/climate emergency and free-expression/civil society.
She is currently working upon the post-colonial economic system of Central Africa. As an activist, she questions the relevance of current economic policies; regarding populations and their environment. As a perspective, she’s promoting the wake of Central Africa scientific era.
So far, her work has been awarded by institutions as Goethe-Institut (Germany); Prince Claus Fund (Netherlands); University of Bergen (Norway); Kent State University (USA).
In 2023, her works have been showcased at La Biennale d’Architettura di Venezia during a Biennal Session organized by the University of Nova Gorica/UNISCAPE. In 2024, her work is showcased at the Carnegie Hall (NY) for the Weimar-Kamerun project.
Some of her artworks belong to the collections of the Museo Civico di Taverna (Italy) and the University of Bergen.
