Papua New Guinea artist ๐๐๐ณ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ก ๐๐ซ๐ฎ๐๐๐ซ joined the ๐๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ข๐๐๐ง๐๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ from August to October thanks to the support of the Foreign Federal Office and its research programme on Germany’s colonial past. We are grateful to her gift to the ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฌ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ, leaving her trace for the Leipzig public. We would like to cordially invite you to the opening of ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ฅ – ๐๐ ๐ฒ๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ ๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ง๐๐๐ง๐๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐๐ฐ ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐๐ and thank the GRASSI Museum sincerely for this inspiring cooperation.
๐๐๐ฉ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐๐ฐ ๐๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐๐ gained independence in September 1975.
Fifty years later, the country is celebrating this historic anniversary with numerous cultural initiatives worldwide. ๐๐๐ง๐๐๐ฅ is one of these projects: a global alliance of partner institutions. Over 40 museums in 14 countries are participating, including the GRASSI Museum of Ethnology in
Leipzig with its significant collection. A special presentation focuses on
cultural artifacts from the Papua Gulf, the Sepik River region, and the Bismarck Archipelago.
