My current body of work attempts to delve into my daily experience with the world. I am exploring the ways other people and myself relate to each other and interact with the spaces around them. Playing with ideas of perception I tend to distort my subjects and environments in ways that make them feel more honest to my reality. I am using people I know in places i am intimately familiar with as my motifs. I keep coming back to the idea of painting life as it is, not necessarily life as we see it in a photograph, but life as we experience it. Through a process of building and rebuilding the surface of my paintings I can create a world that has less developed and more developed passages, much like the world of a memory.
