About LIA-Leipzig International Art Programme
LIA is a non-profit residency programme that fosters artists internationally by providing them with spacious studios and cultural support, as well as opportunities to experiment and exhibit at Spinnerei (f. 1884). Spinnerei was the biggest cotton-spinning mill in continental Europe. Today, it is well known as a 10 hectare centre for artistic production and sanctuary to over 120 art studios, galleries, art institutions. The residency programme cherishes cultural and artistic exchange within the local and an international artist community, encourages artist-in-residence to work closely together with LIA, and use the dynamic place and its surroundings to create works on site.
The Goethe-Institut is Germany’s international cultural institute and promotes cultural collaboration worldwide. It encourages the knowledge of the German language and conveys a comprehensive image of Germany by providing information about cultural, social and political life in the country. The cultural and educational programs of the institute encourage intercultural dialogue and enable cultural involvement. Focusing on shared artistic production, reception and reflection, the Goethe-Institut initiates and organizes projects which foster worldwide mobility of people working in arts and culture and strengthen cross-cultural networks from a global perspective.

In addition, the Goethe-Institut covers your international travel, gives you a monthly stipend of 1.000,00 € for living, insurance and material costs. The stipend also includes a group show in January 2023 during the Gallery Tours of the Spinnerei (www.spinnerei.de), given your permission.
– The residency includes the participation and manufacturing of one etching motif at Atelier für Radierung Maria & Vlado Ondrej on site, learning techniques of etching in a one to one workshop.
Artist living and working in Malaysia or Philippines, English skills are obligatory. Please submit:
– a short text of no more than half a DIN A4 page about your motivation to come to Leipzig or a project plan
– 6 images of your work
– a CV with link to your website or social media-site
