Andrés Quintero is a Colombian artist based in Güicán de la Sierra, Boyacá, Colombia. He holds a BFA in Visual Arts (2019) and an MA (2023) from the National University of Colombia.
His artistic practice intertwines historical inquiry with autoethnographic perspectives. His work explores the origins and evolution of technologies, crafts, and creative languages within the rugged context of the Andean countryside. From this place, he cultivates a deep connection with the living beings that inhabit the land and with materialities that resonate in harmony with the local ecosystem.
Through practices of observation, listening, and touch, Quintero investigates the diverse bodily relationships that emerge within the creative environments he inhabits. Walking is a fundamental component of his practice an embodied act through which he engages with the notion of the terrestrial journey. This experience enables him to gather sensitive and immaterial elements that inform a range of artistic gestures, including sculpture, video, and performance. Through these media, he constructs narratives that move fluidly between documentary and fiction, revealing the poetic and material entanglements between landscape, memory, and embodied experience.
