Trevor Kiernanders Arbeiten schlagen konsequent eine formale Auseinandersetzung mit dem Raum der Malerei und des Zeichnens vor. Durch die Assoziation und Kollision mehrerer Perspektiven und den Einsatz überlappender technischer Ansätze untersucht er die grundlegende, fundamentale Dualität zwischen Hintergrund und Vordergrund und die Beziehung zwischen Figur und Boden als solche. Kiernander arbeitet gleichzeitig an mehreren Leinwänden an derselben Wand und experimentiert mit vielen Konfigurationen, um die Komposition auf komplexe, aber entschlossene Weise zu vereinheitlichen. Dabei wird die Zusammenstellung von Leinwänden und Bildern dekonstruiert und rekonstruiert, wodurch widersprüchliche, aber anregende und zusammenhängende Arbeiten entstehen, deren endgültige Installation das Ergebnis dieses Forschungsergebnisses im Studio ist.

Trevor Kiernander wurde 1975 in Mississauga, Ontario, geboren und lebt derzeit in Montreal, Quebec. Er hat einen BFA in Malen und Zeichnen von der Concordia University (mit Auszeichnung, 2006) und einen Master in Fine Art: Art Practice vom Godsmiths College der University of London (2009). Während seiner Zeit in London von 2007 bis 2014 stellte er in ganz Großbritannien aus und nahm an mehreren Projekten und Ausstellungen in Deutschland, Russland, den USA, Kanada und Marokko teil. 2017 wurde Trevor für Residenzen im Vermont Studio Center und im Leipziger Internationalen Kunstprogramm ausgewählt und erhielt 2018 einen Zuschuss des Canada Council für das Arts Concept to Realization für Einzelausstellungen in Kanada im Maison de la culture de NDG (2018) und die Galerie d’art d’Outremont (2019). Seine Werke befinden sich in nationalen und internationalen Sammlungen, darunter das CPOA des Nationalen Museums der Schönen Künste von Quebec, die Concordia-Universität, der Rat für Künste von Montreal, Loto-Québec, Mouvement Desjardins, die Toronto Dominion Bank und die Université de Sherbrooke.
